Bylaws
Arizona Council of Professional Genealogists

ARTICLE I. NAME
The name of this association will be the Arizona Council of Professional Genealogists, hereafter referred to as AzCPG.
ARTICLE II. OBJECTIVES
AzCPG will be operated as a nonprofit, educational organization. No part of any net earnings will inure to the benefit of any private individual.
The objectives of AzCPG will be:
1. To promote professional standards in genealogical research, writing, and
speaking
2. To promote the education of the membership and the public
3. To promote awareness of professional genealogical services
4. To promote improved access and preservation of records used in
genealogical and local history research
5. To promote awareness of activities and/or laws, which may affect
genealogical and local history research, including pending legislation in
Arizona and elsewhere
6. To provide support for those engaged in genealogical pursuits as a
business; and
7. To enable those interested in any aspect of professional genealogy to
network together as teachers, speakers, researchers, writers and
librarians.
ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP
Membership will be open to any person or institution willing to support the objectives of this organization and uphold the professional standards of ethics as set forth by the national Association of Professional Genealogists.
ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS
1. Officers of AzCPG will be President, Vice-President, and
Secretary/Treasurer.
2. Officers will serve for one year.
3. Duties of officers are specified in the Standing Rules.
ARTICLE V. MEETINGS
1. AzCPG will meet a minimum of once a year.
2. AzCPG meetings will be open to the public. They may attend as guests.
3. Only members of AzCPG can vote, serve as officers, or be listed in
materials published by the organization.
4. Non-members can attend meetings and participate in any activities except
those designated in Article V.3.
5. Qualifications and methods for voting will be according to procedures as
established in the Standing Rules.
ARTICLE VI. ELECTION
Officers will be nominated and elected by the membership on a date to be determined by the AzCPG Standing Rules. Terms will last one year.
ARTICLE VII. OPERATING PROCEDURES
1. AzCPG will be governed by these Bylaws and Standing Rules.
2. AzCPG will conduct itself in a manner that is in keeping with the
professional nature of the organization. All literature, banners, posters,
letters, etc., will be professional in appearance.
ARTICLE VIII. FINANCES
The term of the fiscal year, limits on petty cash, establishment of a bank account, amount of dues, limits on expenditures, auditing of books, etc. shall be set as part of the Standing Rules.
ARTICLE IX. AMENDMENTS
Amendments or revisions of these Bylaws may be proposed by any member of AzCPG and voted on as set forth in the Standing Rules.
ARTICLE X. DEACTIVATION
1. AzCPG may be dissolved by a two-thirds vote of the membership as
specified in the Standing Rules.
2. Any moneys left by the organization will be donated to the Arizona State
Genealogy Library.
