You do not have to be a “professional” genealogist, someone who makes a living in genealogy, to join our organization. We welcome anyone who is interested in learning how to do good genealogical research using the standard of ethics established by the Association of Professional Genealogists.
We discuss, among other things:
We discuss, among other things:
- how to start a business
- how to create a website for a genealogy business or for family research
- how to promote a genealogy business
- how to interact with clients.
This includes non-paying clients or work done for friends and family. It also includes volunteer work we do for libraries and historical societies--for example, indexing cemetery records, obituaries, land records, etc. In other words, this organization is for those who wish to exchange ideas on how we might conduct ourselves in a professional way as we work in the many fields of family history.
We have a message board on Groups.io called AzCPG. To contribute to this you need to be a member of our organization. Our goal is to use the message board to exchange ideas. Membership is $5 a year. If you are interested in joining our group, please contact our membership secretary, Janna Larson. We have a face-to-face meeting once a year which includes a seminar to which the public is invited.
